Bug-Type |
The Bug-Type is a classification of one of the 18 types that exist in the world of Pokemon. Pokemon designers would based a Bug-type Pokemon design on a real life insect and add certain aspects to them in order to appeal to children.
Bug-type Pokemon are a big part of the Pokemon world and a trainer's Pokemon journey. Beginning trainers will usually encounter a bug-type Pokemon at the start of their Pokemon journey. In the Kanto region, trainers will encounter Bug Pokemon like Caterpie and Weedle in the Viridian Forest; which a trainer will have to cross through in order to continue on their journey. Like real animals, Pokemon will only be agitated against humans if threatened or bothered. Many bug Pokemon will use moves such as String Shot and Stun Spore to incapacitate their targets.
People in the 90's who played the first video games would know that bug-type Pokemon were pretty prominent and memorable in their experience playing. Watching the TV show gave children an appreciation of insects as some episodes in the TV show featured bug-type Pokemon as the main plot and showcased them as gentle beings, while some were pretty hostile such as the Pokemon Beedrill.
There are 69 Bug Pokemon in existence as of right now and they display many advantages over certain type of Pokemon such as Grass type , while having disadvantages such as against Fire-types. Bug-Type Pokemon are known to be pretty powerful and can deal a lot of damage to their enemies with Bug-type moves such as Bug Buzz and X-Scissor. [2]
